U.S. Promises “No More Lecturing” Hungary ━ The European Conservative

The head of the U.S. embassy in Budapest, Robert Palladino, an appointee of President Donald Trump, has said that in contrast with the previous U.S. administration, Washington will stop lecturing the conservative Hungarian government.

In an interview with Hungarian weekly Mandiner, Chargé d’Affaires Robert Palladino said, “We are witnessing a significant renewal in relations between the United States and Hungary, based on mutual respect, shared values, and cordialism.”

We share the same values in terms of borders, families, and national pride.

He stressed that he represents the “traditional form of diplomacy” and is not here to “lecture” but to “show respect” to the host nation.

The previous ambassador to Hungary, pro-LGBT activist David Pressman, appointed by Joe Biden, had used his time in Budapest to continuously lecture the Hungarian government, wanting it to embrace woke ideology, give military aid to Ukraine, stop importing Russian gas, and stop doing business with China.

U.S.-Hungarian relations suffered as a consequence.

According to Robert Palladino, “We will not lead a culture war from the balcony of the embassy.”

The American flag is the only flag that we will put on the building. There will be no lecturing, and we will not micromanage, we will not get involved in every little thing, there will only be results. Our mission is to defend American interests, support allies, and foster a partnership based on mutual respect. Hungary deserves this, and the Trump administration will give it to you.
