Trans Activists Harass Actors in J.K. Rowling TV Show ━ The European Conservative

Ever since it was announced that the U.S. cable TV giant HBO would adapt the Harry Potter novels, transgender activists and their ‘allies’ have sought to pressure cast members into denouncing the author of the bestselling children’s books or withdrawing from the show itself (i.e., losing work).

Recently, character actor Nick Frost was selected to play the magical giant Rubeus Hagrid—four words which in themselves should tell adult campaigners to grow up—resulting in a social media barrage against him to withdraw from the project because of the ‘transphobic’ Rowling who wrote its source material and is also an executive producer on the show.

Whereas initially, Frost had to turn off comments on his April Instagram post where he announced the pending role, he was later quoted in an interview where he appeared to distance himself from Hagrid’s creator, telling the Observer:

She’s allowed her opinion and I’m allowed mine. They just don’t align in any way, shape or form.

This could serve as a sufficient public denunciation to get things to quiet down, as sympathetic coverage in gender ideology rag Pink News might suggest. Frost might come to regret this, as such campaigners often treat such ‘victories’ as the thin end of the wedge for demanding even more concessions. He would do well to learn from courageous Harry Potter actor Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the movies and has stood by Rowling, in contrast to some of his thespian peer group.

Attempts to erase Rowling from public life—up to and including death threats—are commonplace, with activists going so far as to conceal her name in a tapestry celebrating women. Recent trans protests in London even included at least one ‘burn the witch’ placard.

This latest attempt to intimidate parts of the entertainment industries appears to coincide with the blacklist-like tactic of lobbying entertainers’ booking agents into dropping them from the roster. Recent public examples of this include comic performers such as Stacey Guthrie or Josh Howie, who describes how his

advocacy against Jew hate and a spurious campaign by far left activist groups have led to my acting agent firing me and comedy gigs I’ve worked out for more than two decades, not returning emails.
