“Time to Get Tough” as Figures Show One in 12 in London Is an Illegal Migrant ━ The European Conservative

Reports this week point to new figures showing that “up to” 585,000 illegal migrants live in London, which is equivalent to one in 12 of the UK capital’s population. One migration expert told europeanconservative.com that the true number is likely to be “even higher.”

Migration Watch chairman Alp Mehmet said that the think tank “estimates the overall number of illegal migrants in the UK to be around 1.5-2 million, the bulk (circa 60%) of whom will be in the capital.”

In other words, there could be between 900,000 and 1.2 million illegal migrants in London.

Robert Bates, who is research director for the Centre for Migration Control, also told this publication that “we need to find, detain and deport every single person living in the UK illegally” because “they pose a potential security threat and impose an unjust cost on the British taxpayer.”

The figures, from a Thames Water report and first published in The Daily Telegraph, come in a week where the news has been dominated by stories on migrant-related crime—including the sentencing of Southport attacker Axel Rudakubana, whose parents were originally from Rwanda. Commenting on the recent tragedies, New Culture Forum fellow Rafe Heydel-Mankoo said, “The issue few will address is that migrants from violent nations and THEIR CHILDREN are more prone to violence and criminality—especially if they’ve experienced violence themselves.” This, however, is not a conversation the establishment wants to have.

The Home Office’s claim that it is “rooting out the criminal gangs who profit from small boat crossings,” and that recent removals make it “clear that those who arrive illegally will be returned,” is unlikely to convince many.

Bates told europeanconservative.com that “politicians are not currently doing anything to address this problem,” and what we really—and “urgently”—need is “a government department with the sole focus of removing those who are taking the mickey out of our country.”

It’s time to get tough.

All the more so since it’s not just the security threat posed by illegal migration which is causing an increasing problem, but also the cost to the taxpayer, as Mehmet made clear:

A part of the population of this magnitude in the shadows and off the books, has huge implications for services, the NHS, GP surgeries, public transport, congestion and schools. But [Labour London mayor] Sir Sadiq seems to think this is all fine.

Sadiq Khan has long made it clear that under his stewardship of the capital, illegal migrants—or, as he prefers to call them, “those seeking asylum”—“are welcome here.” Far from taking serious action, Khan and Labour prime minister Keir Starmer will, as Reform leader Nigel Farage put it, “continue to change our capital city forever.”
