Labour Promise of ‘League Table’ Linking Crime and Nationality ━ The European Conservative

The British Government has announced that it will publish migrant crime rates by nationality  in official ‘league tables.’ The proposals, outlined by Home Secretary Yvette Cooper on Tuesday, April 22nd, would force her own civil servants to disclose a full breakdown of offences committed by foreign criminals living in the UK.

Previously, Whitehall has claimed that compiling such figures is too complicated, although critics of government policy such as the Centre for Migration Control have managed to do it, by sending freedom of information requests to local police. Subsequent figures showed high levels of  criminality among non-British offenders.

Moving forward, government analysis will focus on foreign criminals awaiting deportation, which would have meant 19,244 offenders would have formed the basis for last year’s ‘league table.’ Albanians, Romanians and Poles are expected to ‘top the charts’ for violence, robbery, and drug dealing. In part, two of these groups are heavily represented because of their presence in the UK’s population—unlike Albanians in England and Wales, who are convicted at a rate 30 times that of British nationals.

Publication of the first official league table is expected by the end of the year.
