Danish Soldiers To Train in Drone Warfare in Ukraine ━ The European Conservative

Several teams of Danish soldiers will be deployed to Ukraine, according to Army Chief and Major General Peter Boysen, who spoke to Danish broadcaster TV 2

The idea is for the unarmed teams, drawn from various Army regiments, to gather knowledge and experience. “We’re sending some teams down there to learn firsthand from the Ukrainians’ experiences. That way, the people who actually work with this on a daily basis—not just me—can go and gain that insight themselves,” Boysen said.

The move is part of the Army Chief’s latest initiative: training Danish soldiers in combat tactics inspired by Ukraine—particularly drawing lessons from three years of drone warfare on the front lines.

“These soldiers are not going down and actively participating in the war,” Boysen said. “They are going down to gain some experience, and it’s at the invitation of my counterpart, the Ukrainian army commander.”

Russia warned that it will consider soldiers “legitimate targets” and said they see the move as an escalation of the war.

“Sending Danish military personnel to Ukraine, among other things to study combat experience, draws Denmark deeper and deeper into the conflict in Ukraine and provokes a further uncontrolled escalation of it,” Russian Ambassador Vladimir Barbin said in a written statement to TV 2.
