Authorities Bust Gang Aiding Illegal Immigration in Italy ━ The European Conservative

Italian police forces have arrested five individuals on charges related to aiding immigration, impersonation, and document falsification. The arrests took place in Livorno, Tuscany, and in the province of Naples. Livorno Prefect Giancarlo Dionisi praised the operation, calling it “brilliant” and describing the alleged scheme as “an articulated fraudulent system.”

The operation involved coordinated efforts by local Carabinieri units, a special labor inspectorate task force, and municipal police. The arrests follow an extensive investigation that began in June 2024. Authorities used telephone wiretaps and digital analysis to uncover the alleged scheme.

According to investigators, the inquiry was launched after a suspiciously high number of regularization requests for non-EU seasonal workers linked to companies in the Livorno area further raised red flags.

Authorities allege the suspects established an illegal “Fiscal Assistance Center” (CAF) to submit thousands of fraudulent entry requests. The forged applications were allegedly supported by counterfeit documents.

Carabinieri forces conducted multiple searches and seizures, uncovering dozens of devices including PCs, smartphones, and digital storage units. Investigators also seized cloned and forged municipal stamps, hundreds of fabricated identity documents, and a large volume of digital and paper forgeries.
